What is a Direct Drive Motor

Table of Content [Hide]

Direct drive refers to coupling or connecting a new type of rotary motor or linear motor directly to the driven load to achieve driving. Due to the elimination of many intermediate links in traditional systems, such as belts, chains, wire ropes, and gearboxes, the structure is greatly simplified, making the entire system highly efficient, low consumption, high-speed, high-precision, highly reliable, maintenance free, high stiffness, fast response, no need for lubrication, and safe operation.

Direct drive technology is referred to as an advanced method and technology in modern drive technology by the foreign industrial community, and is increasingly being applied in various industries. As the main and key components of direct drive technology, direct drive rotary motors (DDR) and direct drive linear motors (DDL) are not simply moving rotary motors or linear motors into the system, but rather innovating the design of these two motors according to different systems and operating conditions.

A direct drive motor is an electric motor whose rotor is directly connected to the load without a transmission device (such as gears or belts), and can directly convert electrical energy into mechanical energy to drive the load. Direct drive motors typically have the characteristics of low noise and high precision, and are widely used in industries, medical equipment, automation equipment, robots, and other fields. Due to direct drive of the load, direct drive motors have higher response speed, lower maintenance costs, and longer service life. Common direct drive motors include linear motors, rotary motors, stepper motors, brushless DC motors, etc.
